Has Our Ability to Read Declined?

I’m still analysing the How to Read Now by Elaine Castillo at the moment, there’s alot more work I need to do to understand the whole concept of this book (Booknotes for this will need a longer time to be written). One particular thing that caught my attention is about the “empathy” that was mentioned in her essay….

My thoughts :

We must be critical consumers of the media around us, but what that’s even mean? Due to the design of social media, we have been conditioned to consume information in tiny, bite-sized nuggets, often fixating on highlights. It is our responsibility to nurture and sustain our curiosity, delving deeper into the information presented, placing it into a broader context. This ability is experiencing an unprecedented decline, impacted by how technology, particularly androids, has taken over our lives, diminishing our attention spans. Is our human ability also declining? Are we, without reflection, unnoticed of the difference as everything around us operates at this diminished pace set by the technology that surrounds us? Should we be worry for the humankind?
