β24 Ramadhan : Learning to Be Grounded
Hey there, friends!
As the blessed month of Ramadan comes to a close, I find myself sitting down to reflect on what this special time has taught me. I spent most of my time offline throughout Ramadan, focusing on inner reflection and spiritual growth.
#1 Patience is Key
One of the biggest lessons I've learned during Ramadan is the importance of patience. Fasting for long hours can be challenging, especially when you're feeling hungry or thirsty. But through patience, I've learned to control my urges and focus on the spiritual and health benefits of fasting. Not good at this, but I'm learning my way to be better at it!
#2 Gratitude for Blessings
We often take things for granted. From having food on our tables to clean water to drink, Ramadan reminds us to be grateful for all the blessings in our lives. Fasting helps me appreciate these blessings even more, as I'm reminded of those who are less fortunate and don't have access to the same privileges. Each day of fasting is a reminder to count my blessings and show gratitude for all that I have.
#3 Slowing Down
For 11 months of the year, we hustle through the bustle of life. It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of activity. Instead of constantly rushing from one task to the next, Ramadan taught me to savor moments of quietude and to slow down.
#4 Renewed Focus on Faith
During Ramadan, I had an optimistic reading list, but I decided to focus on finishing one book: The Qur'an by Muhammad A.S. Abdel Haleem. Additionally, I spent time watching 'The Story of Moses,' as there were scenes from the book that I desperately wanted to see. I wish there were more films or series based on the holy book, perhaps even included in the school syllabus. Discovering this translation book has reignited my faith and sense of purpose as a better Muslim.

#5 Being Grounded
My husband reminded me that Ramadan isnβt just about feasting and the needs of buying NEW things every Eid. Itβs about having a strong anchor in the middle of lifeβs turbulent waters. Fasting in Ramadan taught us a sense of stability and finding inner peace from being connected to oneself and the world around us. Groundedness reminds us of our place in the universe and our interconnectedness with all living things, building resilience within ourselves.
As I write this, tomorrow is Eid. I regret that I didnβt spend more time than I had, but I'll carry these lessons with me into the days ahead and all year round.
Until we meet again, Ramadan.
Wishing you all a blessed Eid al-Fitr filled with joy, peace, and love.
