How I Rate Books
Here’s how I rate my fiction and non-fiction books:
Wizardy Rating Scale | Fiction
🧙🏻♂️Dumbledore's Wisdom (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): Pure wizardry
A masterpiece! These books are loaded with profound knowledge, offer deep insights, and are treasure trove of wisdom. Not just offered enjoyable and magical experience but also leaving me with a lasting impression with their mindblown world buildings, fantastic plot, characters, setting, and a unique and beautiful writing style.
This can also be for daring, unconventional books that push boundaries, challenge norms, offer a different perspective, provide pure dark insights, delve into complex subjects, and challenge me to think critically—akin to Sirius Black's bold perspective.
🦸🏻Harry Potter's Magic (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): Pure Magic
A spellbinding experience! Given to outstanding and memorable books that provide an engaging and thrilling reading experience. These are page-turners that captivate me with exciting plot, believable world building and dynamic characters. A truly magical experience that leaves a lasting impression.
👩🏻🎓Hermione Granger's Intelligence (⭐️⭐️⭐️): Solid magic
A clever enchantment! Clever plot, characters, and setting, but not as enchanting as expected. Provides a decent dose of charm but falls short of the truly extraordinary.
🪄Ron Weasley's Bumbling Path (⭐️⭐️): A bit of magic
But the charm wore off quickly! Didn't enjoy as much, as I couldn't engage with it. Lacks the magic that makes a story truly memorable.
🧦Dobby's Disappointment (⭐️): Not worthy of a sock!
Given to books that I struggle to finish and are a disappointing read, lacking engagement, a minimum decent dose of charm, and offering little in terms of learning. This rating signifies that the book is just not for me.
🤕DNF: Chamber of Secrets (Did Not Finish):
Like the Chamber of Secrets, these books hide their magic and fail to captivate. Reserved for reads that lack enchantment and depth. Whether I explore these realms in a different mindset or banish them from my literary journey remains uncertain. Perhaps, it’s totally NOT for me.
Sciency Rating Scale | Non-Fiction
🧠 Einstein's Insight (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): Pure Genius
A masterpiece and a testament to pure genius, akin to Einstein's profound intellect! These books are loaded with profound knowledge, offer deep insights, and are a treasure trove of wisdom. "I can't put it down cos I learned so much" for it's enjoyable and enlightening experience while leaving a lasting impression with their fantastic exploration of complex subjects and unique perspectives. This rating can also be for books that I find daring, offering new findings/perspective, unconventional works that push boundaries, challenge norms, and provoke critical thinking—akin to challenging scientific theories
🍎 Newton's Laws (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): Scientific Wonder
Left me with a great wonder! Books that provide an engaging and enlightening learnig experience for me. These are for books that feed my curiosity with exciting explorations of factual/scientific principles, useful guides/tools/frameworks, offering new perspective, impactful message and experience. A read that leaves a lasting impression, reflections and loads of actionable takeaways
👩🏼🔬 Curie's Curiosity (⭐️⭐️⭐️): Solid Discovery
A thoughtful exploration! Presents ideas, concepts, and theories in a clever manner, though not reaching the heights of sheer genius. Offers a respectable dose of intellectual allure but falls just short of the extraordinary. A solid read for me with insightful information
🔭 Galileo's Gallop (⭐️⭐️): A Swift Descent
It was an average journey through the realm of science, but it lost my interest pretty fast! I just couldn't get into it. It lacked that cool factor that makes learning really stick in your mind.
🤔 Dissatisfied Scientist (⭐️): Unproven Hypotheses
Given to non-fiction books that were a struggle to finish, not my cup of tea, and provided minimal valuable insights. It didn't offer much for me to learn, and the engagement was lacking. This rating signifies that the book just didn't resonate with me.
☠️ DNF: Abyss of Uncharted Territories (Did Not Finish)
Like an abyss of uncharted territories, these books failed to captivate and provide the insights I was seeking. Reserved for non-fiction reads that didn't resonate with me at this moment. Whether I return to these topics with a different mindset or leave them on the shelf remains uncertain. Perhaps, it’s totally NOT for me.
